This study sought to ascertain the level of corporate entrepreneurship within People’s Own Savings Bank, examine internal organisational factors that affect its effectiveness and recommend strategies to improve on factors that are impeding its effectiveness. An overview of People’s Own Savings Bank was given with specific focus on its history and operating environment. Generally, the institution’s operating environment is very dynamic and highly regulated which underscores the importance of effective corporate entrepreneurship for building sustainable competitive advantages. A deductive approach was employed since it enables generalization of research findings. Literature on corporate entrepreneurship was reviewed comprehensively before an empirical study was conducted. The study found out that corporate entrepreneurship existed at a restrained level within the organization. The organisation’s strategic direction, culture and human resources management systems were found to have the highest positive impact on corporate entrepreneurship while organisational structure and policies and procedures had the least impact on its effectiveness. Recommendations grounded on main findings of the empirical study and insights gained during review of literature were made on how to improve corporate entrepreneurship within the organizationen_ZW
