This article seeks to explore some of the contradictions in the language attitudes of school children in Zimbabwe that were discovered in the data collected for a study of language attitudes among secondary-school pupils.1 Preliminary findings of this study are based on responses to questionnaires given to 100 upper-secondary-school pupils.
