The relationship between gender diversity and selected telecommunication organizations performance in Zimbabwe
Abstract
The study sought to establish the relationship between women`s and performance of an organisation by examining the effects of gender disparity on organizational performance taking a case of selected Telecommunications companies in Harare Zimbabwe. The study focuses on selected telecommunication companies in Zimbabwe, namely TelOne, Econet, NetOne and Telecel Zimbabwe. The focus of the study was on the effects of social category diversity attributes, skills diversity attributes and values diversity of employees on organization performance. Thestudy unit of analysis was the management of the selected telecommunication companies. The study covered the period between 2015 and 2019. This study has adopted a positivism paradigm, a descriptive research design and a deductive reasoning approach was used to help organize research activities including the collecting of data in ways that are more likely to achieve research aims. The target population was the telecommunications sector in Zimbabwe and the study adopted a stratified and convenience sampling method to select four companies. A questionnaire was used to obtain data for a quantitative methodology to analyse the data using Statistical Package for Social Sciences (SPSS) version 20. The results indicate a positive relationship between gender diversity and organizational performance as measured by the stated variables. The study recommended organisations to value gender diversity, mainly the inclusion of women in leadership, as it has implications on
organizational performance.
