A challenging activity for all organisations is the need to ensure that they succeed in implementing formulated strategies. This dissertation focused on a study carried out at a manufacturing organisation in Harare for the purposes of establishing the reasons contributing to failure to effectively implement its strategic plan to achieve its vision, and to recommend measures that can be adopted to enable effective strategy implementation. The study analysed the business' performance in four key input areas required for successful strategy implementation as revealed by the literature review carried out. These are: the strategy formulation and implementation model used, stakeholder commitment and readiness to participate, managerial effectiveness, and the impact of resource allocation on strategy implementation. The methodology employed in this study took the form of analysis of archival data and a self administered questionnaire distributed among the organisation's employees to extract their opinions on how the organisation approached strategy implementation as a way of achieving its vision . Content and frequency analysis were used to extract constructs to explain the findings of the study The findings revealed that, the organisation was not effective in managing the four strategy implementation pre-requisites and this had a direct bearing on failure to implement most of its strategic initiatives. The implementation model chosen by the organization was at variance with the main objective of the strategic plan. The researcher recommended that the organisation dedicates more time to plan strategy implementation, to engage all stakeholders to play a part in strategy implementation, to introduce a performance management system to support strategy implementation, and to consider hierarchical implementation of strategy initiatives beginning with the most important.en_US
