dc.description.abstractPueiperal sepsis, haemorrhage, post abortal sepsis and hypertensive disease remain the main causes of maternal mortality at Harare Maternity Hospital. Lack of antenatal care was a factor in the majority of deaths. Preventative factors for the principal causes of death are discussed. The value of post mortem examination in cases of maternal deaths is stressed.en_US
