Zimbabwe, despite a fairly sophisticated modern sector, displays the normal characteristics of less developed countries having a dual economy with a large surplus labor force.Reynolds has observed that.poor, labor-surplus countries are still living in a classical world and should perhaps follow the classical route, towards fuller employment (Reynolds, 1985:39) However, the reality is that social and political factors tend to dominate classical economics, particularly in democratic developing countries such as Zimbabwe, where wage earners are highly influential.
