Abstract: This paper seeks to explore how Cleaner Production/Green Manufacturing can be used as a base for ISO 14001 certification in a tobacco processing environment. A framework is presented for how to implement ISO 14001 in a tobacco processing environment. CP assessment procedures are highlighted in the paper. A case study is also carried out at a tobacco processing company. Environmental impact assessment and environmental audits were carried for the plant; this enabled the researchers to evaluate environmental impacts and aspects of the process.
