Authors: Musariri, John
Abstract: This dissertation has been an analysis of the causes of schism in Pentecostalism with special focus on the great schism of 2018 in the AFM in Zimbabwe. Qualitative research methodology has been used in this research through unstructured interviews. The dissertation explored schism in the Early Church with special focus on the Johannine community which is evidence to the fact that schism were experienced since the early history of Christianity. AFM in Zimbabwe is regarded as the mother of Pentecostalism in Zimbabwe. Since its existence in Zimbabwe, there were a number of individuals who broke away and formed their ministries. However, a great schism was witnessed in the year 2018 where apart from other individuals who started their own ministries, two major groups emerged, both claiming the same name and assets as they regard themselves the authentic AFM in Zimbabwe. One group supports the AFM in Zimbabwe constitutional reforms while the other condemns the constitutional reforms. The study investigated on the causes and impact of this great schism in AFM in Zimbabwe. The dissertation concluded that the impact of the schism has both positive and negative effects. It was discovered that the AFM in Zimbabwe is continuously facing schisms since the 1930s. Apart from other causes, doctrinal differences are the major causes of splits throughout the phases of schisms in the AFM in Zimbabwe.

Abstract: This is a study of the contribution of African Traditional Religion to the environmental crisis as
key to poverty reduction. The study focuses on the areas of Mhondoro-Ngezi and Mubaira
District. The environmental crisis and the poverty crisis are among the major challenges the
people in Mhondoro are facing. This study argues that, the Shona people of Mhondoro conserve
the environment well through their taboos, totems and belief systems. Taboos and totems have
been used successfully to promote natural resource conservation, that is, the land, animals, water
bodies, mountains, forests and trees. The study argues that, these practices are helping in the
reduction of poverty in Mhondoro.

Abstract: It is envisaged that music influences emotions, but little attention has been given to understanding how it affects emotion regulation in driving accidents. To the music therapist, an understanding of this phenomenon has therapeutic implications for a variety of clinical populations that find it a challenge to regulate and manage their emotional experiences. Music instructive therapy provides avenues for communication that help those who find it difficult to express themselves in deeds. This paper provides an analysis of the instructive music therapy which Charles Charamba, a musician, offers to Zimbabwean drivers to combat the menace of driving accidents. It analyses the psycho-therapeutic-remedial implications inherent in the
musician’s l
yrics with the view to offer instructive insights to drivers. A driving accident is an accident which is caused by human errors. Thus, this paper advances the contention that the musician through his music offers an instructive therapy which is psychologically rehabilitating in alleviating the rate of driving accidents in Zimbabwe. This discursive discourse emerges against the realization that there is a high rate of driving accidents in Zimbabwe that have become a cause of concern to human security.

Title: Water and the environment in southern Africa: A review of the literature since 1990.
Authors: Nyandoro, Mark
Abstract: This article is a review of the dominant literature on water issues, water rights and the environment in southern Africa. Being the first in a series of reviews of different regions, it is framed through a survey of national literature that has emerged since the 1990s, with a particular focus on South Africa, Zimbabwe and Botswana. Its central objective and/or purpose is to review select publications in which I foreground significant historiographical tendencies as they relate to my topic on water and the environment. The major tendencies or trends define the content of the article about these countries that form an important part of the SADC region. It traces how water history (a subdivision of environmental history) in southern Africa has developed and evolved, and outlines how scholarly debates have changed over time. To achieve this, I track the major themes of water-history focusing on who produced the works cited, when were they produced, and critically surveying their tenors, themes or intention. What motivated this write-up and assessment of the source material is that several works on this topic have been produced by multiple scholars from diverse academic disciplines: water experts and/or practitioners, ecologists and/or environmentalists, historians, economists, social scientists, hydrologists and policy makers. But not much work has been conducted in the social sciences domain to highlight major water rights and environmental benchmarks from an economic history perspective – a perspective that combines the social and economic analysis of events without disregarding the impact of politics on life and society.
