dc.description.abstract This teaching paper provides an introduction to demographic terms and concepts. It treats selected aspects of fertility and mortality, migration, population structure, as well as population distribution. As such it forms the basis for an understanding of population projections. Population projections, however, are dealt with in a separate teaching paper (Mbiba and Olthof, forthcoming).
