Abstract: This article presents and discusses the findings of tracer and questionnaire surveys of Zimbabweans who completed three types of mechanical engineering training programmes during the 1980s. These programmes span the engineering occupational hierarchy of professional (university trained) engineers, and engineering technicians and artisans and, as such, embrace the three main levels of skill formation in the country.
